Using Geofence
Need to know where a picture was taken? Well, we do have GPS coding and address translation, but now we also allow fields to be generated!
Geofence is one of Cargosnap’s intelligent solutions designed to simplify your file organization.
By enabling Geofence, your App users will take a photo and we'll add an automatic "tag" to it, indicating the geographic area (geo-zone or geofence) the photo was taken, making it really easy to recognize and search for images taken in specific, known places.
To use Geofence, you need to create a field on your Company Settings.
☝️ Note: only Admins (SuperAdmin or LicenseAdmin) are allowed to create new fields.
Let's dive into the step-by-step, shall we?
Creating the "Geofence" field
-
Go to the Company settings and, on your Fields page, click the + sign to create a new one.
-
Fill in the details of your field
▫ Field: how you'll name it to identify the geographic location you want to tag, like "Terminal", "City" or "Region", for example.
▫ Type: select "Geofence"
- Click "⚙ Geofence options" to open the map to draw your "fences"
- Navigate to the geographic location by clicking and zooming in and out. Click the black circle on your left to start drawing a circle around the region you want to tag.
- After drawing and positioning the circle where you want, you can identify the Geofence region with the tag you want to see on the photos taken within that circle:
- Repeat the last step for each area you would like to map.
▫ Color: as a visual confirmation, you set a color, so you can immediately recognize the data on your Files page.
▫ Available for teams: this will define if this "tag" will be added to the photos taken by all teams or only the devices of specific teams.
-
Click "Save Changes"
That's it!
Now, when someone takes a new snap, with GPS enabled, the platform will check the snap to be in one of these circles and add that tag to the image if it does!
This allows you to search for these particular images using the “Search on Fields” feature in “Files”.
